What is a Christian Authorpreneur?

“What is a Christian Authorpreneur?” The better question is who? And if you’re reading this post, 9 times out of 10, that who is – YOU!

An Authorpreneur is someone who identifies as an individual who uses their book to leverage or launch a business, brand, ministry, coaching or speaker platform. Whether your book is the catalyst for your entrepreneurial career, or a tool used to increase it, Authorpreneurs are a rare and special breed.

“Every destination is nothing but the beginning of a new journey.”

– Cassondra Lenoir.

Many Christian individuals write and publish books in obedience to God. However, I don’t believe our obedient actions end with publishing. Quite the contrary. I believe that after you cross the finish line of becoming a published author, then your true journey begins. Your authorpreneurship journey.

After you write and publish a book, you instantly become both a brand AND a business. Too many people walk into their authorship journey with the tunnel-visioned mindset of “just selling books” – with no real marketing strategy or business acumen attached to it. They don’t view themselves as a brand. They don’t incorporate or start a business. They don’t open a business bank account. There’s no strategic planning. They don’t know the first thing about a marketing rollout or creating a sales funnel. They somehow forget they’re a walking billboard and the best advertiser of their book.

Nobody can sell, promote, or explain your book LIKE YOU! It was YOU who stayed up late in the midnight hours and woke up before the sun rose to write your book. It was YOU who read page after page, time after time. It was YOU who spent countless hours (and probably countless tears) locked away in a room to bring your book to pass.

Nobody can promote your book like you!

Your book becomes a part of your DNA. It’s etched into your soul. And yet, because you have a great book idea or a life-changing story to tell, now that it’s published and out there, you just expect everyone to read it. Or even worse, just because you’ve placed your book on Amazon – along with the other 32.8 million+ published titles (these are real numbers! Google it. I checked!) – you expect complete strangers to find, purchase, and read it. Your book’s catchy title and cute cover will NOT guarantee its success. No sir, no ma’am.

Most people go to Amazon’s bookstore for one of two reasons:

  1. They already have a book in mind, and
  2. To search reads of a specific author.

Those who run businesses know to go into the book publishing process with a bigger-than-life (but obtainable) plan in mind. But for those who don’t, this article was created for YOU. Don’t go into writing/publishing a book without the mindset that not only will you be birthing a book, but you’ll also be launching a brand and business.

Personally, I believe the most successful Authorpreneurs are those who don’t try to “reinvent the wheel” or “build the plane while flying.” You don’t have to figure out this journey on your own! The Christian Authorpreneurship Roadmap has already been written. It’s just up to you to find the Christian coach or business mentorship program that’s right for you and specializes in helping authors thrive as business owners. A resourceful accountability community filled with like-minded individuals is also a cheat code in becoming a notable and financially successful Authorpreneur.

It’s time to have a seat at the table. Pretty is a Ministry is a women’s community specifically created for Christian Authorpreneurs. Within this community, you’ll find the perfect blend of faith and business. For a yearly membership fee, you’ll receive business coaching, mentorship, peer accountability, monthly bible studies, weekly prayer calls, strategy sessions, and expert-led workshops to help you grow as both an author and entrepreneur.

Leveraging your book to birth or elevate your business, ministry, speaking or coaching platform isn’t hard to do. With the right mindset, mentorship, and membership – there are no limits for you!
